Imagine being scared to go to school. Scared to take your kids to school. Scared to pick them up from school if they need to come home early. Many families are feeling scared now. 

PPS must continue to protect them. 

ICE does not belong in or near our schools. Parents, grandparents, kids, all families deserve to feel safe going to school, excited about being at school, and supported in learning.

It is easy to think that ICE won't come to our schools. But, in my work as a public defender, I have seen plain-clothed ICE agents at courthouses. I know first-hand how frightened my child clients and their families are to come to court in this environment.

We cannot become complacent. We must stand up to support our students and families.

I pledge to *always* support Oregon as a sanctuary state and to protect schools as safe harbors for kids and their families.
